Many thanks to the SPAMMERS and others I've collected these Epigrams for Today from over the years!

Epigrams for Today

These Epigrams fall into two categories for me. The first is things I would agree with or say about myself. The other is a short list of those which I wouldn't say about myself, but might apply to other people so I include them as well.

A hammer will shatter glass, but it will forge steel.

Did you ever observe to whom the accidents happen?

Chance favors only the prepared mind.

Don't wait for people to be friendly, show them how.

When you've got something to prove, there's nothing greater than a challenge.

It's how you deal with failure that determines how you achieve success.

The road to perseverance lies by doubt.

By nature all men are equal in liberty, but not in other endowments.

Nothing can be beautiful which is not true.

Freedom is knowing who you really are.

It is the unseen and the spiritual in people that determines the outward and the actual.

Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

Too many people run out of ideas long before they run out of words.

Life cannot subsist in society but by reciprocal concessions.

This is a short list of those which I wouldn't say about myself, but might apply to other people so I include them as well.

Scarcely any political question arises in the United States that is not resolved, sooner or later, into a judicial question.

Threescore years and ten is enough. If a man can't suffer all the misery he wants in that time, he must be numb.
