Tidbit of Information: Ten Ways to Worry Less and Accomplish More
== == == == == == == == == == == == == == == == == == == == == ==
Many thanks to Tony Celino for sending along this Tidbit of Useful Information November 9, 2003 by that famous author, Anonymous. Be Happy, Don't Worry
Remember this: 95% of the things you worry about never happen!
1. Don't think of problems as difficulties. Think of them as opportunities for action. Don't think of arguments as fights. Think of them as Loud Learning Opportunities. Strive to learn from every experience. Don't be like those who seem to spend their entire lifetime perfecting their faults.
2. After you've done your best to deal with a situation, avoid speculating about the outcome. Don't be like the farmer who went out at midnight each night and tugged on his seedlings to help them grow. They all died. Forget the outcome and go onto the next thing.
3. Keep busy. Keep the 24 hours of your day filled with these three ingredients: work, recreation, and sleep.
4. Concern yourself with things you can do something about. Forget those you can't. Everything always turns out the way it's supposed to anyway. Just say EAT-O-TWIST!
5. For the time being anyway, eliminate daydreaming completely. Stop building air castles, and instead concentrate on designs for real castles.
6. Do it right away, don't procrastinate. Do it right away, Kid. DIRAK means do something the moment you think of a future task to help bring it to completion.
7. Don't pour your woes and anxieties onto other people. You'll just get their sympathy in return. Give them your hope instead of your suffering. Remember this: No one suffers from the lack of suffering!
8. Get up as soon as you wake up. If you lie in bed, you may use up as much nervous energy living your day in advance as you would in actual accomplishment of the day's work.
9. Try to arrange your schedule so that you will not have to hurry. Strive to be on time or ahead of time for all appointments. Hurry is a blood brother to worry --- it helps shatter poise and self-confidence, and contributes to fear and anxiety.
10. If a project seems too big, break it up into simple steps of action. Then negotiate those steps like rungs in a ladder...one at a time. And don't allow yourself to think about the difficulties of step number two until you've executed step number one.
Do you remember what were you worried about this time last year? What does that tell you?
