This is a primer on using lists for the techno-newbies
among us. It will be updated from time to time as more questions
arise, so please do not hesitate to ask what you think may be a
dumb question
-- only those NOT ASKED are dumb questions.
For those of you who have never used a listserv or subscribed to a list before, here's some basic background on lists. The instructions at the end of this section are complete and comprehensive, everything you need to know for subscribing and unsubscribing, but it will be confusing to many of you, so ignore it at first. Once you're subscribed, here's all you need to know:
To reply to a list, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS HIT "REPLY" and your message will go to EVERYONE ON THE LIST. This is a very powerful tool – sort of an AK-47 of the email world, so be careful when you decide to pull the trigger, your actions will affect everyone on the list. When someone writes a subject that you wish add comments to, hit Reply button, and write your comments. Delete any extraneous text from the original post to reduce the size being transmitted to everyone. Avoid one-liners like, "I agree" – wait till you have more to say than "OK" to generate an email to everyone on the list. If you are confused about how to use the list, write to me directly. If you want a response that you figure might come from one or more members of the list, that's exactly what lists are created for – go for it. Post away.
Threads – lists develop ‘threads' which is a techno-buzzword for a series of posts about the same subject. If you simply Reply to a post whose Subject line reads Subject: New List, then your post will show Subject: Re: New List. If you want to start a new Subject or thread, you can Reply to any post, and simply replace the current Subject: with the any subject you want. Then delete all the text of the Reply and start typing new. Or you can choose to simply do a New Msg and enter the listserv name in the To: address field. That name is: doyletics@topica.com – so enter that name in your address book for convenience.
Remember that the ONLY time you need to go to the website at: http://www.topica.com/lists/doyletics is to learn more about the list. Everything else, subscribing, unsubscribing, and posting messages to list can be done via email.

UNSUBSCRIBING FROM THE LIST:
If you become a Registered Topica user, you can unsubscribe from the doyletics list on the web with the click of a button. Go to the list preferences for the list.
You can also unsubscribe from the list via email simply by sending
